Turner, ME 04287

Music for Mavis presents T-Acadie in “Hidden Gems of the Holidays”, a concert of lesser-known songs and tunes of the holiday season. T-Acadie (Pam Weeks - teaches music in the building - , Jim Joseph, and Bill Olson) specialize in the music of New England and French Acadia, but also love any fun acapella music they can fit to their close-knit voices!  They can’t promise “Jingle Bells”, but how about a bit of southern gospel songs and old-timey tunes, French carols, old English wassail songs, a Cajun Christmas song, and more! T-Acadie will bring even more instruments than usual to add to the fun! The concert begins at 3:30pm in the community room at the Leavitt Institute Building. Pam Weeks and gang have been a great favorite though the summer Gazebo music series, and this summer, we found a surprising intimacy going into the Institute Building on a rainout. Come join a Christmas musical afternoon with your neighbors, and home in time for supper. Suggested donations, $ 5 - 10.  Hot chocolate and cookies might be there!!!

T-Acadie in Concert! - 7pm $10
191 Bell Hill Rd.
Otisfield, ME
207-539-4502

The historic Bell Hill Meetinghouse in Otisfield hosts T-Acadie, a folk trio and dance band from Maine playing and singing French Canadian, Maine and New England old time songs, Cajun, Sea shanteys, and original tunes  ranging from sizzling jigs and reels to sweet waltzes and aires.  Pam Weeks, Jim Joseph and Bill Olson have been playing and singing together for over 20 years, at first primarily for contradances.  They quickly discovered their mutual love of French Canadian and old time Southern dance tunes and singing in three part harmony and soon T-Acadie was born.  Pam, Jim and Bill are  all multi-instrumentalists on fiddle, bass, guitar, cello, mandolin, banjo, button accordian and others.  Pam is well known as one of the country's premier mountain dulcimer players and teachers.  Their CD "T-Acadie By the Sea" was released in 2010.The Bell Hill Meetinghouse Association was formed to protect and maintain the 1839 Meetinghouse and the neighboring one room Schoolhouse on Bell Hill Road off Route 121 in Otisfield. Both structures are on the National Register of Historic Places.  All concert proceeds benefit the building maintenence and restoration fund. Refreshments available at intermission.

Maine Fiddle Camp

Intensive Dulcimer Class! - Sunday thru Friday see the website
Camp NEOFA Rd.
Montville, ME
Hey dulcimer players!! I am delighted to announce that I will be teaching mountain dulcimer at Maine Fiddle Camp in June! Here's a chance to eat, breathe, and sleep traditional music and dulcimer in particular for a week in central Maine! We meet at a rustic camp in Maine by a pond, lots of music and dancing all week, food by the incredible "Second Breakfast" - mostly organic, mostly local fare. There are three or four class sessions each day (that may vary depending on the number of students at each level) plus concerts, guided jam sessions, swimming time, dances, all focusing on the various traditional music found in Maine. How does Appalachian dulcimer fit in? Well, I've been living and performing in Maine for almost 30 years, for starters. Anything I've played is fair game, and that's a lot of music.... And the Appalachian mountains end here, at Baxter State Park... of course it makes sense! There's lots of time to investigate whatever direction you're interested in in an intimate setting.
